What’s that? An award you say?

I am extremely honored and very excited to announce my nomination in the ‘Shine On’ award, thanks to the lovely Abrielle at Sheer Embellished.I am absolutely clueless about this award, however I will endeavour to abide by the rules of the award and state 7 things about myself.

3. I have the biggest sweet tooth known to man kind
4. I have always wanted to become a ballerina
5. I swear a lot.. probably too much
6. I am a proud member of an E/F netball squad

Leather Legs

Gone are the days of leather pants being worn by only the likes of bikers and goths. Leather pants have swept us off our feet with their amazing versatility and ability to be worn as both night-time and day-time outfits. Spotted on the legs of many street style icons, leather pants have the potential to be dressed both up and down and when you’re in the mood for a bad-ass daytime look, leather pants are a very promising option.

Although a skin tight leather pant may be the first thing that comes to mind, don’t be afraid to opt for a baggy pant! If you’re worried that you may look as if you are wearing two slim fitting garbage bags, up the look with some minimalistic heels or roll the pant and sport with a pair of trusty white converse.

Leather pants are not shy and have the ability to speak for themselves so they don’t require excessive amounts of colour and accessories to make up for ‘lack of statement’ qualities. You can’t go wrong with a hat (especially in winter, 40% of body heat escapes through your head!) or a crisp, chic blazer.

For those of you who are not keen of the full leather pant, don’t stress there are other options! A favourite of mine has always been the leather patched pant, these have a slight ‘jodhpur’ feel as the shin and thigh section of the leg is leather and the remain knee and backing is usually stretchy and black and super comfy.

I myself own 4 pairs of leather pants, yes ladies, 4. Sadly my addiction doesn’t stop there, I am almost constantly on the lookout for new leather members of my wardrobe. To all my loyal followers out there you might have picked up on my slight fondness of anything leather or embellished so apologies for yet another leather focused post!

Let me know what you think about leather pants, surely there are some other addicts out there!? Whats you’re favourite leather pant look? I would love to hear what you have to say!

Top Ten of Jacobs

Marc Jacobs is the go-to-guy for never fail watches, every season Jacobs produces the chicest goods. In my opinion these are by far his top ten, I hate anything with diamonties despite my embellishment obsession so apologies to anyone out there who loves Marc’s diamontied watches! By the way, take note please people I will be expecting great Jacobs inspired birthday presents this year!

This is great if you want to add a subtle splash of colour to your watch without over empowerment. This is also perfect for corporate workers or school students who follow uniform but are allowed some leniency to show off their inner fashion god.

9.

A Marc Jacobs classic. This is a great staple watch to have as it goes with every outfit and won’t be going out of style for a long while yet.

8.

Image

Absolutely timeless (get it, cause it’s a watch!?), this is one of my all time favourite Jacob’s watches. It has the ability to catch somebody’s eye yet does not have the tendency to be ‘flashy’ and over the top. If you’re brave enough to bare a white watch (not me, I dirty anything and everything white leaving all my white things to be a grubby eggshell) i would definitely recommend this one!

7.

Image

Another Jacobs classic. This watch is slightly bigger than the rest so it’s great if you want to draw attention to or accentuate your watch (cause this baby deserves it)!

6.

Image

Slightly different to the other watches I have chosen so far. When I first saw this I wasn’t a fan but once I imagined it on somebodies arm with a slick of black nail polish I couldn’t resist.

5.

A modern spin on a classic watch, Jacob’s has done this one right! I love the old leather band which has been brought into the now with the gold writing on the face. This would be perfect with a bohemian dress, clog sandals and plenty of layered necklaces.

4.

Coming in at number 4 this one may be a little bit surprising.. I’m definitely not one to shy away from something fun so when I saw this I couldn’t resist! Not only is this adorable but completely individual, I love it immensely!

3.

I couldn’t decide which colour I loved the most so I picked my top three! I love this style because it is brilliantly vivid. If I was richy rich I would buy all three colours and wear them in reflection of my mood.

2.

Image

Finishing up in second place this watch is stunning. The vibrant pink of the face is very chic and adds something extra to the watch without over powering the outfit or the watch itself.

Although number one may not be entirely practical I absolutely love it! The luminous  colour of the watches face and band is brilliantly captivating. These watches are incredibly contemporary with the use of bright colour being balanced out by the classiness of the rose gold and sterling silver.

Any of you out there lucky enough to have one of these babies? Let me know, I would love to hear your opinions!

Lone Rangers

Today I went to see the new Johnny Depp movie ‘The Lone Ranger‘ it was brilliant to say the least! But yet again I found myself sitting in another movie ogling the costumes. Although the old Wild West style costumes were great I was perplexed with Johnny Depp’s costume which represented an outcast Indian tribal member.

Image

(Just a quick Johnny photo for all you fans out there hehe)

For those of you who are thinking I must be talking about the bird.. Think again! I’m talking about the tribal vibe of the entire costume. This got me thinking about all things tribal and its appearance throughout both current day and early day fashion. Tribal is so much more than just animal prints, it’s about embellishment (omgomgomg), vivid colours, statement stones, detailing, aztec prints, feathers, tassels and SO much more!

Tribal has to be one of my all time favourite trends because there are major amounts of vivacious colour, detailing, embroidery and most importantly embellishment! I would have to say that tribal jewellery is my favourite type of tribal trend, seriously how can you not drool over these?

dolce+gabbana+1 dolce-gabbana-rtw-ss2013-details-113_12394173131 a_4.5x-600x400

Tribal jewellery is amazing as it can be paired with such a wide range of outfits to make a statement without being too ‘in-your-face’ as a full tribal outfit can occasionally be. Still unsure how to add a little tribal into your everyday outfit? Simply pair it with your ‘never fail’ little black dress if you’re going out or with a coloured blazer and shirt for work (or even a black blazer cause so often the tribal colours speak for themselves!)

I will be posting some sneaky tribal influences from my week onto the instagram page so be sure to check it out (INSTAGRAM: chloesworldoffashion) Let me know your thoughts on tribal.

I would LOVE to receive some feedback from all of you, especially if anybody is attempting something tribal this week!

Clash of the Prints

Print clashing is a trend I have never been brave enough to tackle. I’m not sure whether it’s the fear of looking over-the-top or to put it simply looking like a complete maniac. Print clashing can look incredible when done right and to do it right you need to find the perfect balance between bold and brilliant.

Image

Genius takes a human form in the likes of Olivia Paleremo when print clashing. The striking floral print of the pants captures your attention which then draws interest to the mismatch of prints. I love this outfit however I feel that the look could be a little ‘bottom heavy’ and could have potentially been balanced better with a pointed yellow heel and a printed top instead.

Image

In contrast to Palermo’s, print clashing is taking place in all clothing aspects of this outfit. I love the look of clashed florals as they have the ability subtly compliment one another. The turquoise bag accentuates the blue of the pants and the orange of the pant flowers compliment the red tones of the florals on the jacket.

For some, pairing a print clash with additional bold accessories could be too much, but I say no! Print clashing is all about making a statement so why not add in your favourite colour and statement pieces to your outfit? Hopefully sometime soon I will be able to pluck up the courage to clash some prints.. Wish me luck!

Let me know your thoughts on clashed prints!

The Rise of the Overalls

Or ‘Dungarees’ for all you international folk! Overalls are being welcomed back with open arms by everybody from high end designers to celebrities and I couldn’t be happier! What I love most about overalls is that they are a ‘pull on and go’ item, with little fuss needed to make them look good.

In comparison to the 90’s when overalls were last popular, the approach to overalls is now mature and much more chic. Rather than pulling on a pair of wellies, tossing your hair up in a scrunchy and walking out the door, overalls now require a little more thought. There is a huge variety of overalls and so many different ways to wear them, but some of my favourites are definitely leather, oversized distressed denim and of course classic denim overalls.

When styling Full Length Overalls.. Image
Opt for flat shoes if you’re after a casual look, I love the vibrant pair of brogues worn by this New Yorker. If brogues aren’t your thing, you can’t go wrong with a pair of converse or canvas shoes but personally I think a pair of jelly sandals would look amazing! To dress up full length overalls wear and an over-the-top necklace, this also looks great with leather overalls.

Cropped Overalls

There are so many different ways to wear cropped overalls, it really depends of how you want to wear them and where you’re going. If it’s a warm sunny day short overalls are great with with a plain white tee and your favourite jewellery items.

sincerely-jules-short-overallsm-ALEXACHUNG-620x930c
Alexa Chung picked the perfect pair of heeled espadrilles to wear with overalls, giving her a slightly girly yet grungy look. This would be perfect for a picnic, day at the markets or perfect for a holiday somewhere warm (Greek Islands anyone)!?

Leather Overalls

I searched high and low to bring you the perfect pairs of leather overalls. Leather overalls look incredible when worn right. From experience I have concluded that tight leather overalls is not what you want, they grab in all the wrong places and hardly flatter anybody. Take a look at these leather overalls for the right idea..

miroslava-duma-leather-overalls SONY DSC streetstyle8385-web

Full length leather overalls tend to be easier to wear because they are slightly more versatile. However a short pair of short leather overalls would look great with an oversized embellished stone necklace and a round pair of sunnies. I love the brown pair shown on the far left because it is something completely different and worn so right with that amazing necklace and shirt!

It was uber difficult to cram all the ways you can wear overalls into one post but hopefully you have been inspired to slide on a pair of these all-in-one wonders!

Let me know what you think about overalls, any favourite ways to wear them?

Cut Out Boots

I have been desperate to get myself a pair of black leather cut out boots after I spotted THE pair at Sportsgirl; but at one hundred bucks I wasn’t entirely convinced I needed them. After a great deal of searching to try and find a cheaper look alike on a weekend trip to Melbourne, I finally subdued to the Sportgirl babies and may I proudly say, NO REGRETS! I even took a shameless picture of my newest family members in the elevator. Image

Whilst searching every nook and cranny of Melbourne for the perfect look-a-like, I came across a number of cut out boot variations.

Gold Buckled:

Image

As I’m a sucker for anything embellished or rose gold I couldn’t look past these. Although I love the gold studding, ‘horse stirrup’ like buckles and the subtle gold zip the detailing of the leather is what really captures my attention. However, I do feel that the toe cap is  unnecessary and ruins the line of the boot.

Chunky Heels -Jeffery Campbell:

Image

These valorous gothic boots would give me the dangerous false impression of being able to stomp over anything and anyone! Chunky heels take cut out boots from edgy, punk rock to straight out gothic.. and I love it! (The extra height isn’t that bad either for a gal seriously lacking in the height department)

Pointed:

Image

Pointed shoes have never spoken to me no matter what form and this is no exception. Although personally I wouldn’t wear a pointed cut out, I can definitely imagine them on the feet of a chic ambassador sporting a crisp blazer with over the top pointed shoulder pads, killer kats eye sunglasses, wet looking leather shorts, an oversized clear clutch and a  vivaciously chunky necklace (tribal or embelished?).

I’ve been pairing my cut outs with the ever so trusty boyfriend jeans, but I am yet to expand my repertoire! I’m thinking in the summer months they would look incredibly cool with a tiny bohemian dress (completely clashing the edgy feel of the boots, but hey it’s the silly season after all!)

Let me know your thoughts on cut out boots this season: Completely impractical? (hello freezing tootzies) Cutting edge? Got yourself a pair?
