Whilst longingly scrolling through the photos from New York fashion week 2013 (*insert biggest sign known to mankind*) I was surprised at the large number of hats propped upon the heads of those lucky enough to be at New York fashion week. This was particularly surprising as each morning of New York fashion week I jumped onto my computer to read all about up and coming soft palates, pastels and frills; the last thing I was expecting to see on the streets was boho chic!
SPOTTED: The boho hat appears at New York fashion week
I have a huge amount of respect for hats as there have been many days where these little treasures have covered up my miserable bed hair and the fact that my hair is in serious need of a little tender love and care. Not only do hats fend off any judgmental eyes they are great protectors from the sun and here in Australia with summer approaching and the sun stronger than ever, a broad brim is just what the doctor ordered (..literally people).
In my rush to pull my beloved floppy felt hat on top of my locks, it occurred to me that I haven’t seen this hat since my trip to Italy last year! The devastation hit me like a ton of bricks, have I really lost my all time favourite hat!? In the hope of finding my hat I have planned the perfect outfit to entice my floppy friend back, round Celine sunglasses, a tiny leather shoulder bag, printed t-shirt dress, brown leather clogs (I recently bought myself a pair of these and they are bliss in a shoe ladies) and hopefully my hat! (RETURN TO ME PLEASE)
LAST SPOTTED: The Amalfi Coast… yes this was just an excuse to share a holiday piccy, hehe enjoy!
Let me know what you think of the boho hat making a comeback!
It’s winter here in Australia and my god is it cold! Although we don’t get snow where I am (yes laugh if you must as I have just complained about icy weather when we don’t even get snow) I am feeling the cold immensely! On extremely bitter days there’s nothing I feel like doing more than leaving the house in my holey trackies (or sweats for all you abroad folk!) This is where the fur jacket comes in to save the day; it’s chic, stylish and very very warm.
Fur coats have been around for centuries and I mean centuries! My Great Grandmother often tells me the stories of her floor-length mink coat which my Nunnu (great grandfather) bought for her whilst he was at war in Italy. She says ‘that coat was so beautiful, there was nothing quite like it. One day I got very drunk -she giggles- and got sick on the coat, Nunnu got so cross, but he took a bar of soap and scrubbed each soiled spot. That coat came out as good as new, that’s how you know what beautiful quality it was.’ Sadly when floor length coats went out of style, my Great Grandmother cut it in half!
Nothing says high fashion quite like a fur jacket. Worn by the biggest names in fashion the fur coat is an iconic fashion item. If you are against real fur, faux fur coats are no less brilliant! They often come in a wider variety of colours, styles and patterns as fake fur is much more versatile in regards to dying and styling.
For those of you out there who don’t have a fur coat I would recommend purchasing one at some point as they are incredibly warm and a reoccurring statement in the fashion world. A classy black fur jacket is perfect and out of all my fur I would probably say it’s the easiest to wear, this is because it doesn’t over power the outfit but still makes a statement as it’s fur. My second go to fur jacket would have to be white. White fur is classy yet chic and tends to go with a lot of things, the only problem with this is keeping it clean! The two above are my favourite fur jackets (they are fake of course!)
For those of you who hate fur (real or fake), here’s a piccy for you.. Made me giggle!
Let me know what you think about fur, be it faux or fake!
Taking Marie Antoinette’s infamous words and applying them to the predicament of society I declare that all women are now permitted to eat cake. Times are changing ladies, vivacious, desirable, curved bodies are appearing left, right and center (about time to)! Beguiling models including the phenomenal Robyn Lawley and the very sexy Kate Upton are taking the modelling world by a storm. Take flight malnourished models, grotesque boney figures are on a fast decline!
Lets take a moment to appreciate the highly successful Robyn Lawley who has appeared on the covers of a number of high fashion magazines including: Italian Vogue, Australian Vogue, Madison, Elle and more
The likes of Robyn Lawley do not only sport incredible figures but they represent health, happiness and beautiful women worldwide. Kate Upton scored the cover of The Sports Illustrated famous swimsuit addition and looked incredibly sexy to say the least! Kate’s figure is so alluring, it’s hard not to admire how bewitching her photographs are. Take a look at some of her shots (I dare you not to stare!)
Stunning right? Society it excellent at labeling anything and everything, think about it- ‘gay’ ‘catholic’ ‘white’ ‘straight’ ‘plus-sized.’ Dare to succumb to labels and embrace everybody as they are, because Robyn Lawley and models alike are is nothing other than beautiful.
So looking forward to what you all have to say on this subject, comment your thoughts below!
